About the Artist - Elaine Marx

I live in Gauteng, Johannesburg, South Africa with my husband and two
teen-age children. Art Alive will be opening an Art School in
January 2009. The school will be in no 56, 11th avenue,
Northmead, Benoni
I have always had a passion for people from all walks of life and I
enjoy showing it in my artwork. Another subject that inspires me
is lovely places and landscapes.
I often use my own
photographs as references, and commissions are always welcome.
I have been painting since 2000, and decided in January 2008 to spend more time developing my art
talent.
I enrolled at Creative Concepts School of Arts in June 2008, where I
have been under the tuition of Norbert Schling. In the same year, I
entered two fine art competitions, the first competition was a
national competition, and the second competition was the Inni-Oos
Rand arts festival I am grateful to say that I won both the
competitions.
This portfolio contains paintings with the themes of people and/or
places.

My views on art
The reason I chose the name Art Alive as my business name is because art truly
makes me feel alive, there is a difference between being alive and feeling alive.
People always say that art is a way to express yourself, although this
sounds like a cliche, I find it absolutely true. My mood can
always be detected in my paintings.
